Attorney/Agent course on examination practice and procedure at USPTO

Sign up to attend the March 5 – 7, 2019, Attorney/Agent 3-day course on examination practice and procedure at the USPTO Rocky Mountain Regional Office in Denver. CLE credit in Colorado is approved for this course. This training makes use of statutes, rules, and guidelines relevant to practicing before the USPTO. Attendance is limited those who have passed the patent bar, with priority given to those who passed recently. USPTO trainers will present the course based on material developed for training patent examiners and other employees. Inventors Association of Connecticut Holiday Party a Big Success!

I attended the IACT Holiday Party that was presented in association with the Connecticut Technology Council yesterday.  The party was at Brewport in Bridgeport, CT, a great venue.  Pizza, salad, and adult drinks were supplied!  I met with the president of IACT, other IACT members.  Looking forward to the party next year!

Inventors: Apply Now for the TOY ASSOCIATION’S Inaugural Inventor Day

Toy inventors and designers are invited to apply to The Toy Association’s inaugural “CF@TF Inventor Day,” an opportunity for select individuals with toy and game inventions to pitch to influential toy and youth entertainment professionals and manufacturing partners during Toy Fair New York. CF@TF Inventor Day is being held on Friday, February 15, the day before Toy Fair opens, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

All toy inventors and designers attending Toy Fair are eligible to participate. In addition to filling out the online submission form, applicants are required to send in a 90-second video to support their written application. The deadline to apply is Monday, December 17, 2018.

“Inventors and designers are the lifeblood of the toy industry since it is their creation of unique playthings that will inspire the next generation of children,” said Marian Bossard, executive vice president of global market events at The Toy Association. “We encourage inventors to take advantage of this program and look forward to providing a pipeline of innovation for the industry and for play innovators.”

Inventors Holiday Party Dec 13 at Brewport in Bridgeport

Congratulations to UCONN IP CLINIC client for new Patent!

I would like to congratulate my UCONN Law IP Clinic client,  Rosse Gates, of East Hampton, CT, for obtaining a patent on his picture mounting system, apparatus, and method.  I worked with Mr. Gates, when he first came to the IP Clinic with his invention.  I supervised UCONN Law student Gregory Wuennenberg during the preparation and filing of the patent applications for Mr. Gates.   The patent can be seen here.

Inventors Association of CT meeting Tonight!

I will be attending the Inventors Association of Connecticut (IACT) meeting tonight.  The meeting will be held at the Fairfield University Library, room 101, located in Fairfield, CT, at 7 pm.

The topic will be:  “Panel of Angel Investors”, a question and answers presentation of Real Angel Investors. This is a good opportunity for inventors to network with the investors and find out what they are looking for.  More information can be found here.

Patent Examining Training for Inventors at the USPTO–FEB 5-7, 2019

Registration is now open for the Feb. 5 – 7, 2019 USPTO Inventor 3-Day Course on Examination Practice and Procedure. The course is offered to members of the public as part of their Stakeholder Training on Examination Practice and Procedure (STEPP) program. The event will be held at the USPTO headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia.  The cost is FREE!

If you are interested in attending, please use the USPTO’s sign-up form.

This course is limited to current and future inventors. It is not intended for those interested in representing applicants before the USPTO. As a prerequisite, those accepted will be required to review several computer-based training (CBT) modules prior to the course dates.

Commercializing your Invention a big success!

Last Thursday I a gave a talk on Commercializing your Invention through the Milford Adult Education program.  We had a full class with lots of questions asked an answered by local inventors and business-people.  In the Spring of 2019 I will be teaching a 2-night course on Patents, Trademark, and Copyrights for Inventors and Businesses.  Be on the lookout for announcements!
