Looking forward to the Connecticut Intellectual Property Association Meeting on Thursday, April 9, 2026

I will be attending the CIPLA meeting at the Elm City Club in New Haven tomorrow night.

Elizabeth Jackson, acting director of the USPTO’s Northeast Regional Outreach Office will provide an update on USPTO activities, including new and upcoming pilot programs, substantive changes within the USPTO as it relates to examining procedures, and will discuss how the USPTO is implementing the use of generative AI in patent and trademark examination. As a former senior trademark examining attorney, Ms. Jackson will be able to provide unique insights into trademark prosecution and how the new AI searching tools will affect trademark examination. The program will also cover updates and the use of AI with respect to patent examination.

Heading to the National Association of Patent Practitioners conference in Washington DC!

I am on an Amtrak train heading towards Washington DC for the NAPP yearly conference. At the conference, I will see fellow patent attorneys and patent agents. We will be kept abreast of the latest developments in Patent preparation and prosecution, we will learn the latest about AI and software patent applications. Chief Technology Officer of Stanley Black & Decker will be presenting at the next Inventors Association of Connecticut Meeting!
